Drug Interactions With Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine (Cont.)

 
Haloperidol (Haldol)
Taking amphetamine and dextroamphetamine and haloperidol together can change the way the brain reacts to amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, making amphetamine and dextroamphetamine less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.
 
Lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid, Lithonate)
Taking amphetamine and dextroamphetamine and lithium together can decrease the effectiveness of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.
 
Medications for High Blood Pressure
Taking amphetamine and dextroamphetamine and high blood pressure medication together can decrease the effectiveness of the blood pressure medication. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.
 
Meperidine (Demerol)
Taking amphetamine and dextroamphetamine and meperidine together can cause life-threatening side effects, such as very low blood pressure. Do not take meperidine and amphetamine and dextroamphetamine together unless specifically instructed to do so by your healthcare provider.
 
Methenamine (Hiprex, Urex)
Taking amphetamine and dextroamphetamine and methenamine together can decrease the amount of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine in the blood, possibly making amphetamine and dextroamphetamine less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dose of these drugs.
 
MAO Inhibitors
Taking amphetamine and dextroamphetamine and MAO inhibitors together can cause life-threatening side effects, such as very high blood pressure. Do not take amphetamine and dextroamphetamine and MAO inhibitors together unless specifically told to do so by your healthcare provider.
