Using Dextroamphetamine for Narcolepsy
Dextroamphetamine is also licensed for narcolepsy treatment. Symptoms of narcolepsy include falling asleep uncontrollably and at unusual times. People with narcolepsy often appear paralyzed while they are sleeping and have hallucinations when falling asleep. Also, people who experience narcolepsy symptoms often fall asleep several times during the day.
 
As mentioned above, dextroamphetamine is a stimulant. For narcolepsy, dextroamphetamine is generally used at higher doses than when used as a treatment for ADHD. These higher doses have a stimulating effect, helping people with narcolepsy to stay awake.
 

Is Dextroamphetamine Used to Treat Young Children?

Dextroamphetamine has not been approved for use in children less than three years of age.
 

Is Dextroamphetamine Used "Off-Label"?
