People with narcolepsy involuntarily fall asleep at sporadic times throughout the day. For example, someone with narcolepsy may involuntarily fall asleep while:
- At work or at school
- Having a conversation
- Eating a meal
- Driving a car.
In most cases, narcolepsy treatment will involve taking certain medications and making lifestyle changes, such as avoiding alcohol and caffeine-containing beverages before bedtime.
