Sleep Home > ProSom Drug Information

Available by prescription only, ProSom® (estazolam) is a drug approved for the treatment of insomnia. It is only licensed for use in adults, and is designed to be taken on a short-term basis. The medication comes in the form of a tablet that is taken at bedtime.
Prior to beginning treatment with ProSom, inform your healthcare provider about all other medical conditions you have and any other drugs you are taking. This medicine is not right for everyone, and your healthcare provider will need this information to make sure that this is the right insomnia treatment for you. Dizziness and coordination problems are among the common side effects.
ProSom was made by Abbott Pharmaceuticals until May 2007, when the manufacturer decided to stop making it. However, the medicine is still available in generic form.
