ProSom Drug Interactions

Several medications can cause negative interactions when taken with ProSom. Drug interactions like these can increase your risk of side effects, such as difficulty breathing, memory loss, and confusion. To avoid these complications, talk to your healthcare provider prior to beginning treatment about any interactions that may apply to you. Alcohol, antidepressants, and antipsychotic medications are among the substances that can cause ProSom drug interactions.

 

An Overview of ProSom Drug Interactions

ProSom® (estazolam) can potentially interact with a number of other medications, especially other medications that affect the brain. Some of the medicines that may lead to ProSom drug interactions include:
 
  • Alcoholic beverages
 
 
o Clozapine (Clozaril®, FazaClo®)
  • Barbiturates, including:
o Amobarbital (Amytal®)
o Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
o Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
o Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
o Secobarbital (Seconal®) 
  • Narcotics or opiates, such as morphine, oxycodone (OxyContin®), or hydrocodone (Lortab®, Vicodin®)
 
  • Other benzodiazepines, including:
  • Other sleep medications
