Edluar Drug Information

Edluar™ (zolpidem sublingual tablet) is a drug commonly used for the short-term treatment of insomnia. It is only approved to treat insomnia in people who have difficulty falling asleep, as opposed to difficulty staying asleep.

In studies, zolpidem (the active ingredient in Edluar) has been shown to decrease the time that it takes to fall asleep for up to 35 days of use; information from clinical studies has not shown whether this drug would be effective for longer use.

Edluar comes in the form of a sublingual tablet that is placed under the tongue immediately before bedtime. Taking this drug with food or immediately after eating will make the medication work more slowly; therefore, it is better to take your dosage on an empty stomach. In addition, you should not take Edluar unless you can get a full night of sleep (seven or eight hours).
