Versed® (midazolam) is a medication used before or during surgeries and medical procedures to help with sedation. The drug has several effects on the body, such as relaxing the muscles, causing sleepiness, and reducing anxiety. It comes in the form of a syrup or as an injection that is administered intravenously.
 
A few of the factors that can affect the dose of Versed your healthcare provider recommends include your age and weight; the degree of sedation, amnesia, or anesthesia desired; and other medical conditions you may have. Side effects of this medicine may include breathing problems, tenderness at the injection site, and nausea.
