Zolpidem is part of a class of medications called sedative/hypnotics, which are known more commonly as sleep medicine. Based on clinical studies, when compared to people who did not take zolpidem, people who took zolpidem:
- Fell asleep faster
- Slept longer
- Had higher-quality sleep
- Had fewer awakenings.
Is Zolpidem Used for Children?
Zolpidem has not been tested in people under the age of 18. Therefore, zolpidem is not indicated for use in children.
Is Zolpidem Used Off-Label?
On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend zolpidem for treating something other than the conditions lists above. This is called an "
off-label" use. At this time, there are no universally recognized off-label uses for zolpidem.
